Principal's Newsletter Issue #96

Welcome Back Everyone!

We look forward to the return of all of our students, their smiles and their enthusiastic ways! The second half of the year is going to be exciting. We have our annual Talent Show, Spring Jam, Young Author's Fair, Science Fair, Walker Creek, Stellar Readers, Walk-a-thon, and much much more! Our staff worked really hard on Monday January 7th, learning about the new Common Core Standards and working on a variety of educational programs to support your children. It was a very productive day.

Talent show reminders

To our many participating families for the Talent Showcase, please have your children practice their acts over the next few weeks. We look forward to seeing all of their wonderful performances!

This is one of my favorite events of the year and it relates so closely to several components of our Silveira Vision:

...building confidence and capacity to take risks and learn from failures...

...believe in themselves and take pride in their achievements...

...compete not with each other but with their personal best...

Many thanks to our Talent Show committee who work tirelessly to support the acts and this program. If this is something as a parent you are interested in being a part of next year please email me. It is a rewarding team to be a part of in so many ways!

Walker Creek

Our 5th grade annual outdoor science based program is right around the corner and we want to give all of our families ample time to manage the costs. This overnight event will take place in the Spring, May 13th-17th. The cost of the program is $330 per child and there are a few payment options. You can pay one lump sum or you can pay in installments. The first payment of $200 is due on Friday, February 8th. The 2nd installment of $130 is due on Friday April 18th.
